Hi Blog Readers,
So this was my third hike in 24 hours during my jaunt through Colorado. This one was to St. Mary’s Glacier, which is located on a private trail near St. Mary’s Colorado, about 40 minutes away from Denver. In many ways, it was the most beautiful of the three hikes I went on, and also the easiest.

I originally planned on camping here for the night and hiking this trail in the morning, but when I saw that the trail was only 1.5 miles roundtrip, I decided to gather a second wind and huff through it that day.
The glacier proved to be quite beautiful. It felt much more like a local haunt than the other trails I had been on, and I felt like I was in on a Colorado secret. As for the people in the area, they proved to be Bohemian types, some lounging in hammocks, some with dogs (which led to an interesting game of “rock, dog crap, or pinecone?” while hiking the trail), all smoking weed. I guess with weed legal in Colorado, I figured this was the sort of crowd I’d see on all of my hikes, but nope, this was the first encounter. As I was there seeking solitude, I walked away from the sweet, skunky smell of the reefer cloud and towards the glacier, noticing two people walking across it.

See the two people?
On seeing these people, I immediately felt a sense akin to finally knowing and appreciating the immensity of life and this universe that we live in. This sense seemed to beckon towards the answers I was looking for on this trip, and gave me the strength I needed to say it was time to head down from the mountains and towards civilization, Omaha, my destination, the place where I was born and the place where I hoped to further explore what it was exactly that I was looking for in life. What I did during my time in Omaha will have to be the subject of another blog entry. For now, though, I’m exhausted and need sleep.
Cheers,
Rob
