TLC says ‘don’t go chasing waterfalls,’ but that’s exactly what I did today and I was not disappointed! After my excellent morning at Niagara Falls, I decided to chase down another famous waterfall here in New York: Taughannock Falls (Tuh-GA-Nick) located in the Finger Lakes region. My drive to Taughannock remained just as relaxing, rural, and pastoral as my drive to Niagara Falls, and for most of it I honestly could not tell whether I was in New York or Nebraska. The scenery was that similar. No, really. These are pictures of New York, not Nebraska:

My drive took about two hours, and when I got to the park, it was fairly crowded (which makes sense as it was later in the day), but not so bad to where I couldn’t find parking right away. The 3/4 mile trail was relaxing, flat and meandering, with the occasional fly fisherman fishing the river, and it looked like this:

And the actual waterfall looked like this:

They say that this waterfall is actually 3 stories taller than Niagara Falls. Maybe, but Niagara Falls is definitely more impressive in my opinion. Anyways, after doing this hike and Niagara Falls in one day, I was pretty tired, so I went to Ithaca (where I’m at now) and I’m going to be calling it an early night. Oh, Ithaca is pretty cool. Home of both Cornell and Ithaca College, it is a pretty famous and quintessential college town here in America. It looks like this:

And the view from my hotel room looks like this:

Being a college town, I was able to find a good gyro shop pretty easily to regain the calories lost during this long day. Now I’m just winding down for the night. I don’t know though. It’s getting kind of lonely doing all of this traveling by myself. I definitely wish there was someone sharing all of these amazing experiences with me, but such is life. Tomorrow, I’m off to Vermont!
Cheers,
Rob
