I had some time to kill today while waiting for my buddy Anton to get off work, so I decided to fit in two sidequests. The first was a trip to Buc-Ee’s, which believe it or not several people told me I had to go to while here in Texas. It’s a giant gas station/grocery store/Wal Mart sort of place, I guess, with really clean bathrooms, and a ”jerky bar” with tons of beef jerky and stuff? I dunno how to describe it but by the time I left, I found myself kind of hooked on the place and only wanting to stop at Buc-Ee’s for the rest of the day.

While at Buc-Ee’s, I bought some jerky, postcards to send to a teacher back in Red Bluff, and a Buc-Ee stuffed animal for Anton’s kids to fight over. Sidequest success!

Next I went to Baylor to see a former student of mine, Josie. Josie is doing awesome, and does twirling on the sidelines at Baylor games. She even got to go to the Sugar Bowl this year with the team! She’s also a smarty and majoring in engineering, which just warms this math teacher’s heart. I took her to lunch and she showed me her campus. I hope she keeps up the good work and excels at her studies! Good seeing you, Josie!

That was the day. Now it’s time to catch up with my old college roommate!
