Hurricane Ridge, Washington

I spent my last day in Port Angeles not in Port Angeles at all, but out exploring the area.  It is an incredible place, with such diversity in its topography to where you can spend your morning in the glacial high country of Olympic National Park, and your afternoon on the beach.  So I did just that, and spent my morning at Hurricane Ridge and my afternoon at Rialto Beach.  Hiking the mountains and the beaches all in one day.  What a life! It was also an interesting day, as Port Angeles is the only place I can think of where climbing elevation actually makes things warmer, not cooler.  I am used to escaping to the high country to escape the heat in Red Bluff, but in Port Angeles I climbed into the high country to escape the cold, morning fog that blankets the area.  Anyways, I’ll let my pictures do the talking on this one.  Here was the morning hiking at Hurricane Ridge:
